I suspect Malayalam is the most widely spoken single language among India's Catholics. I don't speak a lick of it. (Ok. Um. I can count up till 29 in Malayalam. Don't ask.)

Bless you! [And it eats me inside to say these words ... but ... ] Care to provide a translation? :-)
Yes but do Malayalam numbers comes in male and female, singular and plural?
Classical Arabic. Now there's a set of numbers that will make your brain grind to a halt.
So I shouldn't count on you to translate the Veeradian Pattu, once we track it down?
@Alex: thanks! My goal on the next visit to India that affords any time to travel around, is to get down to Kerala.
@Sherry: I don't think so. But Hindi verbs do! :)
@Mike: I think we might be able to persuade Alex to help out with the translation.
Did your friend in Rome have any luck tracking down the original?
@mike Nope. Haven't heard anything. I'll have to remind him to look.
@Alex: perhaps you know something of this traditional song that mike is looking for? Apparently it's a song sung at Hindu weddings with St. Thomas as the protagonist. "Veeradian Pattu."
