Overheard in the security line at EWR

"So the guy asked me, 'Do you have anything dangerous or sharp?' And I was like, 'Sure I do. The Word of God is sharper than a two-edged
sword.' Luckily, he was a believer ... "

Heh. I'm back in the US of A. :)

That is *such* a evangelical response.

Just how did a Indian Hindu turned Catholic come up with that? Are you sure you never spent time among my people - other than living in the south?

We memorized that particular verse and many of our services began with the quotation of that verse. We even had "sword drills" where children would race one another to find a given passage in the Bible.

That could get you strip searched at some airports. You are really lucky.

Oh no no no! I didn't say that! Please, I'm way too conscious about flying while brown to make any quips, evangelical or not. I literally overheard this from a group of travelers a little behind me in line ...

Wow! Then they were extraordinarily lucky - and pretty obviously don't get out much! Even with my fundie children, you'll never heard me make a crack like that while standing in an airport security line!

Oh, my mistake. and my apoligies.

ROTFLOL.

I thought you were getting really bold or had a martyr complex going.

"Flying while brown." That is such a completely apt phrase...and something I'm sorry you have to worry about and put up with...

I've heard this type of response from many an evangelical in my time. I also encountered a group of about 40 evangelical youth kids at Kennywood Amusement Park in Pittsburgh wearing t-shirts with fake gladiator armor drawn on it. so they "could wear the full armor of god" while at the amusement park...
