God has consigned all men to disobedience

From the readings for Mass today.
Just as you were once disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may receive mercy. For God has consigned all men to disobedience, that he may have mercy upon all.

O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! "For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?" "Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?" 36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for ever. Amen. [Rom 11:30-36. RSV. Emphasis added]

This is the kind of place where I think inclusive language is essential. When I read your entry title, I get the impression that you're claiming that God is consigning people of a certain gender to disobedience.

Only when I read the text from Romans do I realize that Paul was talking about all people, not just males!

Keep on bloggin', G-man!

It works as a hook, though. Got you to take a closer look, didn't it? :)

You must be my most faithful CSP reader -- so, keep on readin' brother!
