Mere Christianity forum: The New Monasticism

For all you SC folk: Got this in my inbox while I was on retreat. Sounds like something I'd have been interested in!
Mere Christianity Forum invites you to join us at the Vista House for

"New Monasticism: Prayer as a Way of Life," a Friday evening and Saturday day retreat led by Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove.

Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove is a leader in what has been termed the "New Monasticism" movement. For some background on the movement, see these articles from Christianity Today and The Christian Century

He is a co-founder of Rutba House community in Durham, NC, and the author of To Baghdad & Beyond: How I Got Born Again in Babylon. For more about Jonathan and Rutba House, see http://www.newmonasticism.org/

The retreat will start on Friday, September 22, with an introductory session from 7 pm to 9 pm and will continue on Saturday, September 23, from 10 am to 7 pm (with lunch and supper provided). Both sessions will take place at the Vista House (for directions, go to www.mcfinc.org/directions).

Please contact me or Gary Eichelberger (gary@mcfinc.org) by Wednesday, September 20, to reserve your space. A $15.00 donation is suggested to help cover meal expenses. Participants are encouraged to bring a Bible and a notebook.

Peace,
