Benedict on Islam

By Fr. Samir Khalil Samir SJ (an Egyptian Jesuit resident in Lebanon. Fr. Samir wrote an interesting piece on apostasy in Islam that appeared on Catholicexchange last week, though apparently, it originally appeared, like this piece, on Asianews.).

A fantastic piece. Gosh, I wish it had come into my mailbox earlier! I just gave a talk on Islam last night (more on that later today), and this would have been a great thing to add to the mix!

The central point: inter-religious dialogue is a cultural dialogue, and not purely a theological (or religious) one. This is a point that Benedict makes in "Trusth and Tolerance" as well.

Read it!
