Basilica of S. Praessede

Sarcophagus with bones of martyrs, in the crypt beneath the high altar.

Nave of the basilica. Beautiful! I love the cosmatesque pavement!

The simply amazing 9th century mosaics in the chapel of Xenon. [A group of British visitors was in here. I gave one of the, in a wheelchair, a hand, to get into the chapel. There's just something so condescending about that pukka British accent. He went, "Oh -- not quite as sophistificated. But just SO charming!" We've been making fun of that line all day!
