I love listening to gregorian chants. There's this new pop group which has been coming out with a modernized form of this music apparently to keep it alive and make it popular outside the church. They had some four volumes out so far. I'm sure you'd have listened to them. I love the second volume...great music, soothing and good for meditation :). I also have a CD recorded more in the classical sytle by some orchestra in europe. Is this training part of your regular seminary studies?

Hmm -- I'm not familiar with the group you're talking about. Back in the early 1990s there was Enigma, which had a number of two that was real big when I was in college. In the mid-90s, the monks of Santiago had some bestselling CDs. Chant will be with us. Besides, chant was part of my introduction to the Church.

No, it's not a part of my studies (my seminary formation begins formally at the end of August). I would doubt that it would be, we've come so far from the tradtional music and liturgy of the Latin Rite! Besides, I don't even know if they teach Latin anymore to seminarians. They really ought! There's an annual workshop that is offered at Catholic U (right next door to where I will be). At some point, I shall see if my superiors will let me attend ... :-)

Pick up volume 2 or 4 if you find it interesting.

Yeah, I love enigma from my college days. If you enjoyed enimga, I'm sure you'd love the Gregorian Chants too.
