I've been tagged with a Meme!

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Thanks to Maggie (Transcendental Musings) in the comments below. (My first ever meme-tag! Yipee!)

If I understood correctly, one looks up the chapter and verse in the four evangelists corresponding to one's birthday. (This obviously only works if one is using the American convention for dates. :)).

That's 12:30 for me. (Yes, it's coming up. I'll take presents early ... :)).

Matthew 12:30 He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.

Mark 12:30and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.'

Luke 12:30 For all the nations of the world seek these things; and your Father knows that you need them.

John 12:30 Jesus answered, "This voice has come for your sake, not for mine.

Oh my. Maybe there's a message here, eh? :)

Maybe my seven faithful readers can write theirs in the comments? :)

And, I tag ..... um ..... Mark!

Here we go: For May 20th

Matthew 5:20 "I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Phaarisees, you will not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

Mark 5:20 "Then the man went off and began to proclaim in the Decapolis what Jesus had done for him; and all were amazed."

Luke 5:20 "When he saw their faith, he said, "As for you, your sins are forgiven."

and John 5:20 "For the Father loves his Son and shows him everything that he himself does, and he will show him greater works than these, so that you may be amazed."

Pretty crazy... But if I didn't know any better I would say Luke is reassuring after Matthew's harsh stern warning.

Gashwin,

Here are mine (April 12):

Matthew 4:12 - When he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee.

Mark 4:12 - so that 'they may look and see but not perceive, and hear and listen but not understand, in order that they may not be converted and be forgiven.

Luke 4:12 - Jesus said to him in reply, "It also says, 'You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.'"

John 4:12 - Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this cistern and drank from it himself with his children and his flocks?"

Interesting...

Sincerely,

Dogwood

What a message of strength for your Birthday Gashwin! Wow!

But then we can't really tell you what it means, that would be cheating. You have to discern for yourself what God is telling you.

(Did that sound teachery enough?)

My turn. For June 18th:

Matthew 6:18 (preceeded by a command to "wash your face") "so that you may not appear to be fasting, except to your Father who is hidden. And your Father who sees what is hidden will repay you."

Mark 6:18 "John had said to Herod, 'It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.' "

Luke 6:18 (as the crowd gathered for "the Sermon on the Plain") "came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and even those who were tormented by unclean spirits were cured."

John 6:18 "The sea was stirred up because a strong wind was blowing."

Let's see: Hypocrisy, incestuous adultery, tormented spirits and storms at sea...Maybe I was a preemie and had a different "real" due date....

St. Liz: the scarier thing, maybe, is that you were not a preemie and this was indeed meant to be ... :-D

Maggie: yes, my readings are just "woah!" Especially that last one. "This voice has come for your sake, not mine."

Ok ok! Hence the whole novitiate thing coming up and all that ya know .... :-D
