The Holy Father on creation ...

... it's an "intelligent project."

And only a news wire trying its best to make this controversial would call this a "wading into the evolution debate in the United States." Or try to make a big deal of Cardinal Schönborn being seated in the audience.

And, no. This does not, in any way, contradict what Cardinal Poupard has said. Of course as believers, we believe the universe to be intelligently designed. The whole problem is when one tries to make that a scientific statement. And, on the other side, when one says that science disproves the existence of God. That is not a scientific statement either. That's metaphysics.

Nice little column in the latest Time that clears this up, methinks.
